Pete was so very excited when he found out this week's recipe had chocolate in it. He's been craving chocolate. I am happy to say that this didn't disappoint. Let's just say I made a full size tart on Saturday and there is only a sliver left. He's good about eating sweets. He takes his taste testing job very seriously.
I ended up using fresh blackberries for this recipe since they were cheaper than raspberries. They looked so pretty in the grocery store.
The mix of bittersweet and milk chocolate was a nice combo and I must agree with Dorie that this was the best room temperature the day it was made. No nice pictures of the full tart because it got out of the oven a bit late and I couldn't make Pete wait until the next day to try a piece. That would be mean. This tart is delicious and it will make anyone craving chocolate very happy. My favorite bites were the ones with the juicy blackberries.
Thanks to Rachelle of Mommy? I'm Hungry! for picking out this delicious treat. Check out her blog for the recipe and to see what else she has been baking up. You should also go to Tuesdays with Dorie and see what all the other bakers thought. I'm thinking this one was probably a hit. How can you go wrong with chocolate and berries in a yummy crust?

I bet it tasted great with blackberries. It looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear a great review for the blackberries. I was also tempted like you when I was at the grocery store but I think I'm more drawn to the red than the black. I guess it's true about eating with your eyes, eh?

Love the blackberries. I used frozen raspberries and they worked perfectly
ReplyDeleteI'm with you - the blackberries were fab in this tart. Next time: full size for sure. Your slices look so good. Love the picture of the blackberries in the crust. Yum!! And congrats on the impending baby boy!!

ReplyDeleteyum yum. those big fat blackberries were a good call!
ReplyDeleteThe blackberries do look great and I'm sure they were fab with the chocolate. You do have an awesome taste tester on your hands!
ReplyDeleteI used blackberries too! They really worked well. Your tart looks delish!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to use the blackberries! Raspberries were expensive here too so I just made plain chocolate. Pete is a diligent tester - my husband is picky so I've had to outsource a lot of my treats :)
ReplyDeleteLove the look of the blackberries. I'm really wishing I'd have tried fruit in this. Maybe I'll have to try a scaled down recipe of it sometime. Glad you made Pete so happy with chocolate!

ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I skipped this week, but I think I would have liked this one.
