TWD: dulce de leche duos

Who knew cookie sandwiches could be so tasty? Who knew you could make dulce de leche from condensed milk in a crock pot? Who knew those cans of condensed milk would leave rust stains in said crock pot? We know all of this now.

Kim and I just got home from our first pregnancy class and she is nursing a strawberry milkshake while casually instructing me on what to write. We are pulling off a team post while doing the Kegel exercises that were strongly recommended at the class. I was able to bond with a group of expectant fathers by telling them about a traumatic phone call I received from a crying Kim this morning. Kim made it all the way into work before realizing her lunch bag only made it to the counter top. I didn't notice her lunch sitting there until she called. The reason this was traumatic was because of how excited she was about her lunch. She made an amazing eggplant pizza last night which made up the main part of the lunch. Then she had a bunch of yummy snacks. She even talked about how excited she was about her lunch before going to bed last night. Other guys in the class were talking about the hormonal mood swings of their pregnant wives and I shared this story to help strengthen our manly bond.

As much as I'd like to finish telling you about my manly bonding experience, Kim just informed me that I need to talk about the cookies. So, back to the cookies. Aside from the new rust rings in the crock pot, they turned out great. I've been snacking on them for two days now and they're just as good as they were when Kim first stuck them together. Kim is partial to the cookies on their own, but I'm definitely a fan of the cookie sandwich.

Thanks to Jodie of Beansy Loves Cake for picking out these delicious treats. You can find the recipe for these cookies on her blog. Also head over to Tuesdays with Dorie to see what the other bakers thought of these cookies.

  1. How did you get the photo to move like that!? That is awesome! And don't feel bad - my boyfriend will tell you about my hormonal mood swings and I'm not pregnant! But sadly, I would cry if I left an awesome lunch on the counter! hahaha!

  3. Great post, as always. I'm happy to see that everyone's cookies do look like mine, because I just wasn't sure they came out right. So after I baked a few, I played around some more!
    Great cookies and photos!

  4. Great little video - only it was hard to sandwich them together without putting the top in your mouth first! I wonder if Kegel's will work of the extra calories... beautiful cookies Mary!

  8. These look great! Bummer about the rust stains though. I used the oven method and that worked well.

I would cry if I packed a good lunch and forgot it at home, and I'm not pregnant.

  9. Sorry Pete but I'm totally with Kim - the cookies were sooo good on their own! I thought they were too sweet sandwiched with the dulce. They look awesome!

I made my dulce in the crockpot too and there was a small rust stain when I took it out. I used Bon Ami (http://www.bonami.com/) and it cleaned it up no problem, maybe it'll work for you guys?
