Dear Plums,
I'm writing to express my anger at you for ruining my brioche tart. Sure you look pretty and have a nice color but you didn't taste good. You lied to me pretending you were going to be all sweet, but then, after all my hard work, you were mushy and tart. I just wanted you to know that I like peaches way more than you. I'll never use you in a brioche tart again. I will forever call this recipe "brioche should have been peach tart" in spite. I hope you realize the extent of my dissapointment. Thanks for nothing. Stupid Plums.
One other thing, why are you the only fruit that doesn't have a jam at the grocery store? I think that is very telling, Plums.
Love, Kim

Despite the lameness of the plums, Pete was super sweet and couldn't stop talking about how it looked so professional and pretty. He adored the brioche but didn't like the lame plums. I want to make this again with really sweet and juicy peaches, that I think I would love.

Pete and I spent the weekend dog/house sitting for my brother and sister-in-law. They are the owners of two beautiful great danes, Cash and Zoe. Here, Willa is apologizing to Cash because she stuck in her tongue and pulled out a plum from his piece of brioche tart.
She was not forgiven. Cash pouted for the rest of the day. What do you do with a face like this? This is what I looked like after tasting my tart, minus the enormous jowls (I hope).
Thanks to Denise of Chez Us for picking this week's recipe. Head on over to her blog to get the recipe. Make sure to stop by Tuesday's with Dorie and see what all the other bakers did. I'm sure they had better luck with their fruit choices.
Cash, Willa and Zoe send their kisses.

Aww - cute pups! Great Danes are so funny - they always look so bored!
ReplyDeleteI like your hate letter to plums - see, this is why I always go with chocolate!!
You know that dog kills me! Love it! ...but he's got hard competetion with that beautiful brioche of yours!
ReplyDeleteI think many think I made the brioche, for with a quick glance it looks similar... but I'm not as good as you are and have divorced from yeast a loooooong time ago. So I had to settle for last year's galette!
The brioche tart looks absolutely beautiful, and I agree with Pete, it really looks very profesh! Sorry the plums didn't taste the way you wanted them to! Those dogs are ridiculously cute, btw!!
ReplyDeleteI've just decided that this looks like a deep-dish pizza. Let's go get one for lunch, okay?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures!
The tart looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteSorry, that you didn’t love it.
Nice pictures of the dogs!
What a bummer! Sour fruit deserves a scolding. Thank you from all of us.
ReplyDeleteIt did make for some lovely photos, though.
Kim, how many times have I told you that I love your blog? Well keep counting: I LOVE YOUR BLOG.
ReplyDeleteMy plums were a mixed bag of sweet and sour. My taste buds were scarred. I would use peaches next time.
I love that crust you made though . . WOWSERS.
When is it my turn to dogsit?
Could I use your letter and address it to pluots instead? That must be the reason my Brioche Pluot Tart came out soupy (according to the beau)!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry the plums were brats because your brioche plum tart looks gorgeous!
Kisses back to Cash, Willa, and Zoe! xxx
It's hard to believe such a gorgeous tart could harbor some mushy, bad plums. It looks divine. Next time, peaches!
ReplyDeleteWOW. Hands down, without a doubt, the BEST tart I have seen. Absolutely gorgeous. You should be proud! Forget the plums!
ReplyDeleteEven though my tongue was punched with sour plums, you still get the award for most beautifamazinlyawesome looking tart.
ReplyDeleteLove your note to the plums...you can sign my name, too, as we are not big fans of baked plums. Your tart does look professional and I think the peaches are a great way to go next time.
ReplyDeleteIt does look beautiful! How sad that the flavor of the plums was all wrong. I used peaches in one of mine and it was great, but I love peaches.
ReplyDeleteIt looks really nice. Darn plums!
ReplyDeleteDon't you hate that. Had it happen with peaches. YUCH!!!!
ReplyDeleteBut it looks pretty.
Well the tart looks great, picture perfect. Dang darn plums. Sorry about that. I skipped this week and did a simple TWD rewind cookie, but seeing all the brioche and hearing that it was great makes me want to give it a shot.
ReplyDeleteGo buy some peaches! ;)
What a bummer that it was a disappointment - I have to tell you though - it looks really gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWell, it did look absolutely beautiful! And those pictures were stunning. I hope you can try it with peaches soon.
ReplyDeleteToo bad you didn't like the plums. Your tart looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMy plums weren't very sweet either, but my husband loved the tart. Nice photos-looks like the tart is from a French bakery.
