TWD: chocolate caramel chestnut cake (aka: 4C's)

Photobucket

I have good news and bad news. First, the bad news. Kim is currently on Thanksgiving vacation in The City of Brotherly Love with her sister. Now the good news, her husband (that's me) is guest blogging!

While I can't speak to the ease or difficulty in making the chocolate caramel chestnut cake (4C's), I can vouch for its deliciousness. Kim made four mini cakes, which meant I received an entire cake to myself. After I finished my cake I slowly started stealing bites of Kim's as she wasn't eating it fast enough. I was just making sure the cake didn't go to waste. The third cake was dropped off with Kim's mom and the fourth is waiting in the freezer for my mini-Thanksgiving.

I loved everything about these little cakes, but my favorite part by far was the ganache. I was lucky enough to sample it straight from the bowl. Sooooooooooo good.

Kim has also been supplying me with amazing treats all month long (thanks in part to the great picks from the Tuesdays with Dorie bunch) that I have been using as nourishment while my band records its debut album in San Francisco's Tiny Telephone studio. From the sweet potato cupcakes, to the molasses cookies (which were a childhood favorite), to the holiday bundt cake, everything has been a hit. She even offered to remake the molasses cookies for the next round of recording in December. At the risk of appearing as a shameless self-promoter, here is a link to the band: New Cadence. The first six songs on the player are the ones we're recording.

Here's a quick picture of the piano I've been spending my time with in the studio (you can see our singer through the window on the right, running on all cylinders thanks to a sweet potato cupcake).

Thanks to Katya of Second Dinner for selecting the awesome 4C's recipe. Be sure to stop by Tuesdays with Dorie to see what everyone else baked up this week.

From Whisk's kitchen to all of yours, have a great Thanksgiving.

And from Whisk's husband to Kim, hurry home.
We miss you and we miss the blueberry.

  11. So jealous of that piano! I live in an apartment in NYC, and as much as I would love a real piano, a very expensive keyboard that isn't even close to the real feel of ivory keys beneath your fingers but is the best I could find does the trick! Great guest blog, those cakes look deeeelish!
