Since the days are now shorter my natural light picture taking time has decreased. Now when I procrastinate on Sunday afternoons I find myself racing against the setting sun. The sun totally beat me on these crisps. I got them out of the oven around 5:00 and it was just too dark to get a decent photo. I had to take the picture of the finished crisp this morning before work.
I made a version with just apples and fresh cranberries and it was super delicious. I loved the tartness of the cranberries with the yummy crisp topping.
I also made an apple, walnut and caramel version after drooling over Chocolatechic's adaptations last week. It was also delicious.
This is the perfect dessert. Simple to make and tasty.
Thanks to Em of The Repressed Pastry Chef for picking out this yummy recipe. Check out her blog for the recipe. It is definitely worth it. Also head on over to Tuesday's with Dorie to see what all the other bakers whipped up this week.
If you were wondering about Charlie's (the cat) Halloween costume check out the post from Monday.

Wasn't that simply amazing! I had it this week...
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are beautiful... as usual!
Beautiful crisps.
ReplyDeleteI am so with you on the lack of light.
Wow, these look fabulous! I haven't made mine yet but am getting great tips from all of you who have.
ReplyDeleteYour crisps look fantastic! Great photos. I havent made this one yet--but can't wait!
ReplyDeleteYour crisps look amazing. I love that you made the caramel version too. Taking pics of food is hard during the winter!
ReplyDeleteYour apple crisps look friggin AMAZING. Probably the best one I have seen so far. I also made them this week, minus the cranberries.
ReplyDeleteYour close-up shots are too good.
Love the crisp. I also liked CC's idea with the caramel. I'll have to do that sometime. I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked the fresh cranberries.
ReplyDeleteLOVE Charlie's turkey costume!
Don't these look pretty! I enjoyed this dessert too.
ReplyDeleteLove the playing around you did with these. I was inspired by Chocolatchic as well and added chocolate peanut butter. :)
ReplyDeleteIsn't winter light a bummer? Lately it's been so cloudy here that it gets dark literally at about 4:30. I've nearly given up trying to take pictures of anything the same day that I make it.
ReplyDeleteOK, the crisps look wonderful! I love that you added caramel. That must have been SO good!
Looks beatutiful! Isn't it sad that it's dark at 5:00 now?
ReplyDeleteYour crisps look incredible, especially the caramel one!! YUUUM! I am going to make these over the weekend and I am SOOO excited! Yours really look great!
ReplyDeletei know...i now have to be ready to photo my stuff by noon, or the sun is almost gone behind the tall buildings near us. what a pain! crisps look good, though. i loved how easy they were.
ReplyDeleteOh, I totally hear you about the light issue. I can't get anything done in time to catch the light. The pics look great, though. I am thinking of trying the caramel version of the crisp for Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's a race against the clock these days. Your pics look very nice, though. I like the idea of caramel in these... yummmm!
ReplyDeleteThe winter is so tough for pictures! We lose our natural light by 4:30 so photographing dinner is rarely possible anymore. Your crisps look terrific and I love the caramel adaptation. It sounds so good!
