There is nothing more delicious and comforting than a bowl of pudding. Pudding makes everything better. This week's recipe is a fancy chocolate and vanilla Jello Snack Pack. The bottom layer is chocolate ganache and the top is delicious vanilla pudding.
I haven't had any major kitchen mishaps in a few weeks so I think I was due. The split level pudding decided it wanted to be difficult. It made an absolute mess of the kitchen, lots of dirty pots and the food processor leaked pudding all over the counter.
I put the ramekins in the fridge and let them sit for five hours. Pete and I then enjoyed some grainy chocolate ganache and vanilla soup. Not a success. But still totally delicious. I will have to try this one again. Hopefully with better results.
Charlie had eight servings of pudding. Look at that chunky belly. He's an advertisement for portion control.
Thanks to Garrett of The Flavor of Vanilla for picking this tasty treat. You can find the recipe on his blog. Also head on over to Tuesdays with Dorie to see all the other baker's pudding.

i'm afraid mine turned out lumpy. i haven't tried it yet though.
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful cat!!
WOW! What a compromising photo (of the cat, not the pudding!! LOL) ...perhaps you should keep it for blackmailing purposes when it doesn't want to wash the dishes! LOL
ReplyDeleteP.s.: pudding simply looks like it didn't cook enough... other than that, I'm glad it still tasted great and that you guys are positive enough to have enjoyed it!
I love a positive mind, life's too short to complain.
That happened to me when I made the rice pudding- it didn't set up, so I tried it again and got great results.
ReplyDeleteAt least it still tasted delicious, right?
Too bad it was soupy. At least it tasted good.
ReplyDeleteWell, it made for a funny post and photo. Good try!
ReplyDeleteLOL - join the club. I adore your red ramekins and scalloped spoon. And Charlie looks pretty satisfied!
ReplyDeleteIt tastes good and looks so pretty in the red ramekins - I'd call that a success!
ReplyDeleteHa ha! Poor Charlie, he looks like he didn't have more than six servings! I'm sorry this one didn't cooperate. My ganache was grainy too but it was a fun recipe to make nonetheless. I love your photos!
ReplyDeleteI am totally cracking up. I love that cat. I really do.
ReplyDeleteAnd those red ramekins are the bomb, nice pudding!
Fabulous pudding soup. jk
ReplyDeleteLove Charlie and those blue, blue eyes!
i hope you told pete it was supposed to be that way! bet it was still good, though!
ReplyDeleteAt least it tasted good! I made grainy ganache last week and I've had pudding leak out of the food processor. I think that's why I skipped this one.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry it didn't set up properly for you, but it looks great! Experimenting with pudding is never a bad thing, anyway, as far as I'm concerned. :)
ReplyDeleteYour pudding looks wonderful! Who cares that it's not as firm as you would have liked?!
ReplyDeleteCharlie needs to learn a little self-restraint. :D My pudding didn't turn out the first time I made it. I froze it so we could eat it with a spoon instead of a straw. Then the next night I made it again, without using the food processor and it turned out perfect. Go figure!
ReplyDeleteI didn't make this last week as I was out of town so I am checking to see how you fared...am thinking that this was not a repeat over there. Charlie is hysterical! Love the bowls...those are just a wonderful color, size, and shape!
ReplyDeleteThe best thing about a food blog is that things can still look amazing even if they weren't all that hot in person. Case in point: your pudding - it's making me hungry and it wasn't my favorite Dorie dessert either!
