TWD: allspice crumb muffins

Photobucket

Have you ever had one of those days where the thought of doing anything just exhausts you. Today is that day. So I begged Pete to write my post for me. After some moaning he did. His post gives these muffins the post they deserve. My post would have been "mmmmmmm...muffins." Here is Pete. (My writing is in italics.)

I’m not the cook in our family. Sure, I can throw together a turkey sandwich, over pepper a meatloaf, grill steaks into boot leather, and add hotdogs to mac-n-cheese, but don’t confuse me with someone who knows his way around the kitchen. I tend to hang out at the kitchen table (knife and fork in hand) waiting for the next amazing treat from my wife’s new found love of cooking/blogging. She has always been a great cook, but with this blog (and your awesome comments) she has taken it to a new level. I have eaten more sweets in the past seven months than the previous 29 years I have been on this planet. This weekend was no exception. The Allspice Muffins that graced my belly yesterday and today lived up to every expectation I had for them. I sent Kim a message this morning asking her if three muffins were too much for breakfast. She promptly wrote back that I should go with two, but in the 15 seconds between texts I had already started on the third. I couldn’t get enough of these guys for two reasons:

Reason 1 – Anything Kim makes I will try and more often than not I will try it more than once. These muffins definitely called for a “more than once” sampling.

Reason 2 – They tasted like Fall and I LOVE (all caps is definitely called for) Fall. Fall reminds me of Thanksgiving which reminds of Christmas which reminds me of presents which reminds of family which reminds me of being a kid which reminds me of Lincoln Logs which reminds me of how awesome of a builder I was. So thank you Allspice Muffins for reminding me that Fall is here and that you will hold my hand through all the epic adventures waiting for me with my Lincoln logs this Holiday Season.

Thanks for another great week of sweets. Now back to a week of exercising so I can be in top form for next weekend’s adventure. (The little pumpkin is a little sneak preview of the cupcakes we made for the MS: Cupcakes Club, check back on Thursday.)

Thanks to Kayte of Grandma's Kitchen Table for picking these delicious muffins. She has a fabulous blog and always has great pictures of her family enjoying her treats. Head over to her blog for the recipe for these muffins. Check out Tuesdays with Dorie to see what all the other bakers thought of these muffins.

  12. Well Pete did a fine job writing this post and commenting on the muffins. I think Pete and Mark would get along really well in the cooking category...altho Mark is very good at the grill, but then he is older, so there is hope for Pete also I would think. Love the reference to Lincoln Logs...it's great to have sons so you can play Lincoln Logs again when they are little. We played a lot of Lincoln Logs. We still put them around the tree with the train at Christmas time...you never outgrow Lincoln Logs. Ours is a Logging Train, btw. Okay, I digress...your muffins look absolutely delicious, and I can't believe I didn't think of those little pumpkins for the tops of those MSC cupcakes, I just knew I wasn't going to make marzipan...LOL. Thanks for baking with me this week, always fun to stop by and see what you are up to over there in your kitchen!

  18. HA! Hmm, muffins! And wow, they look awesome!

I think these are definitely the ultimate "hubs sweet treat" because my hubs proclaimed that these were one of his favorites. I am like "Are you serious?!"

Simple and sweet . . gets them every time! ;)
