I scream, you scream, we all scream for curdled ice cream! Isn't that how it goes? Doesn't everyone want a little curdle with their ice cream? If not, you've come to the wrong place. I really don't like making custard. I will continue making it to broaden my horizons and conquer my demons. Damn you custard. Half the time I spill the milk on me, the counter, the floor and sometimes the dog, when I "temper" my eggs. This time I tempered them just fine but something happened to my custard on the stove. I stirred and stirred and it continued to look gross. This may have been due to the fact that I'm easily bored when I have to constantly stir something so I was reading my book at the same time. So I have to admit, I was only paying about 5% attention to my custard, but I was stirring. After my arm got tired I quit stirring and gave up. I pronounced my custard as done as it was ever going to get and took it off the stove.

I was lucky and got some peaches with my farm vegetables we have delivered to our home once every two weeks. These babies were pretty. I did some fast talking and got them out of their clothes and I was even able to get a couple pictures of them in the nude.

So sexy. I then proceeded to chop them up and boil them. Let's just say they were none to pleased. I didn't save any to add into the ice cream as chunks. I don't do chunks. Chunks are known to make me gag. So no chunks. I mixed my peach and honey puree with the curdled custard and threw that slop in the fridge to cool. It was taking forever to cool so I gave it an ice bath. I put it all in my ice cream maker and walked away with my fingers crossed hoping that it wouldn't turn into unappetizing curdled ice cream. It didn't. It looked normal. And it hasn't killed me yet so I think it's okay.

I had the animals test it first and I then waited 24 hours to see if they keeled over. Kidding. Charlie adores ice cream. If he hears the spoon hit the bowl he waddles as fast as he can into the room and jumps on your lap yowling for a bite. He got his own little cone. Such a delicate eater that Charlie.

This one on the other hand is far from delicate. She got Charlie's leftovers and let's just say that I'm lucky to have my fingers. She liked the ice cream too and especially loved the cheap cones her dad bought. No fancy cones for us, we had to stick to our budget.

This is a great summer ice cream. Now all we need is summer and it would be perfect. We all loved it. Thanks to Tommi at Brown Interior for picking a winner. Head on over to TWD to check out what all the other bakers/ice cream makers did too.
I'm scrolling down the page scrutinizing your pics going to myself... what? no boyfriend? no dog? ...when I hit the cat! LOL LOL LOL
ReplyDeleteThat's another killer one! Bravo... on the pics and the ice cream! Too cool!
Nice job, Kimmie! Your critters are becoming quite famous.
ReplyDeleteHAHA! Your blog is so fun to read . . . the pictures are AWESOME. I can't get enough.
ReplyDeleteYour ice cream looks superb and I adore the peach pictures all lined up.
PEACHY JOB! ;)
GREAT job, curdling and all! ;)
ReplyDeleteLOVE your cat--nice blue eyes and GREAT licking shot!
Oh and I love the "naked" peaches. ha
i love your blog - i just read through all your entries to catch up. the boyfriend with the crownies/brookies made me laugh. anyway, this ice cream was really good, one of my twd favorites so far. sorry yours curdled, it looks awesome anyway.
ReplyDeleteYour babies are adorable! My custard never really set up, so it took for.ever to freeze after churning. Guess it came out okay, though! :) Great pics!!
ReplyDeleteOMG, we had the same experience with the custard! Except I wasn't reading a book and was paying attention...
ReplyDeleteYour Honey Peach Ice Cream looks tasty and so not curdled! =)
I love the pictures of Charlie and Willa! They both have expressive eyes!
A great post - sweet and sexy! Custard hates me too. Luckily the ice cream maker is very forgiving. Well done!
ReplyDeleteThe cat picture is the best! I'm glad none of you keeled over from the ice cream - it looks like it turned out great!
ReplyDeleteOkay, so you don't do chunks. Got it! :o) Nice job on the ice cream. Looks like everyone in the family enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteCuties! The animals and the peaches... Glad you guys liked it!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so pretty sitting in that cone...and I love the end shots with the pets eating the last of it all. Make custard five days in a row and you will have it mastered...I think a lot of people overcook it trying to achieve the thickness which comes after it sets. It's not that bad, really, really, it's not. Love the photo of the peaches, beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYour blog is so fun to read and the pictures are fantastic! Love your cat.
ReplyDeleteWonderful job!
Hey, there is no problem with curdled ice cream as long as it is tasty curdled ice cream! And that ice cream does look tasty!
ReplyDeleteI got funny "bits" in my custard too, ignored it, and it all churned up great too. I love the cones, and especially the photos of Charlie and Willa eating them. Dogs are never delicate about eating - they want it all NOW.
ReplyDeleteYummy! Your ice cream obviously gets the seal of approval from you furry friends. They have good taste!
ReplyDeleteWilla and I just finished licking out the bowl where the peach ice cream was hiding. We're a mess.
ReplyDeleteYour ice cream looks great and it was obviously lip smackin' good as well!
ReplyDeleteI am suuuper impressed with all of these recipes and professional baking! I never comment but just know I'm reading (and drooling and coveting your skill, talent, writing skills and discipline to actually DO all this cooking/baking) :) Oh and PS- toootally agree about the chunks, I can NOT do fruit chunks, not in ice cream, smoothies, jelly, or really anything else for that matter :)
ReplyDeleteNonetheless, there are some essential factors that need considering before making any selection.

The much talked about drawback, the lack of evenly distributed light in LED lamps too has been now satisfactorily sorted out by Sharp with their proprietary coating technique of the glass enclosure.
